How Your United Way Dollars Are Spent
• 99% of your donations stay in Etowah County. The one percent of the 2007-08 campaign of 1,282,000 ($12,820) sent to United Way of America came back to Etowah County:

 - $38,704 -- Emergency Food & Shelter grants for local families in crisis.
  - NFL and National Public Service Advertising.
  - Staff training.
  - Discounts on fundraising materials.


• 83% of the 99.9925% is distributed directly to various Etowah County United Way agencies, while the remaining 17% represents overhead and operating expenses for the local Etowah County United Way office.

• In order to insure your money is spent wisely, three teams of community volunteers conduct extensive research with the agencies.

• Each United Way agency that receives funding must undergo rigorous financial reporting and account for every penny it spends.

• Remember, when you make your pledge, you will be joining your fellow employees in keeping available 365 days each year in Etowah County vital services for:

  - Homeless families;
  - Spouse abuse victims;
  - Disabled Citizens;
  - Youth at risk;
  - Abused children;
  - Isolated senior citizens;
